In Japan, we have a long holiday period called Golden Week. This year, even if you simply follow the calendar as it is, you still get five consecutive days off. In theory, if you take paid leave on the weekdays in between, it is possible to have up to sixteen days off and even go abroad.
This year, instead of making big plans or going anywhere far, I decided to give my body a proper rest and put my home in order as part of practicing a more thoughtful way of living.
I want to let go of things I no longer need and enjoy a more thoughtful way of living in a tidy room. With that in mind, I even ended up rearranging the furniture, and now, at 9:00 p.m. on the last night of the holiday, my small room is in complete chaos. After a cozy little tea break with some obancha I bought in Kyoto—that is, hojicha, a roasted Japanese green tea—I’m getting back to tidying up I’m hoping to finish everything tonight so I can wake up to a neat and tidy room tomorrow morning.
Thank you very much for reading today.
Wishing you all the best.
